1. Information We Collect
Camera & Images
When you use the scan feature, your device camera captures an image that is transmitted to our AI processing server solely to generate answers. We do not store, retain, or review your images after processing. Images are discarded immediately after the AI response is returned.
Locally Stored Data
Cheatah stores the following data on your device only, using browser localStorage:
Scan history (questions and answers from previous scans)
Answer ratings (thumbs up / thumbs down)
Usage statistics (scan count, streak, subject breakdown)
App preferences (mode, subject selection)
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser or device settings.
No Account Required
Cheatah does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying personal information.
2. How We Use Your Information
The only data we process is the image you submit for scanning. This image is:
Sent securely via HTTPS to our API endpoint
Passed to a third-party AI model (Groq / Meta Llama) for question detection and answer generation
Immediately discarded — not logged, stored, or linked to any identity
We use no data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the answer results you request.
3. Third-Party Services
Groq API
Answer generation is powered by Groq's API (Meta Llama). Images are sent to Groq's servers for processing. Groq's own privacy policy governs their handling of that data — see groq.com.
Vercel
Cheatah is hosted on Vercel, which may collect standard server logs including IP addresses as part of normal hosting. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts for typography. Google may collect limited technical data when fonts are loaded. See policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Data Security
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We do not maintain databases of user images or scan results. Locally stored data is subject to your device's own security settings.
5. Children's Privacy
Cheatah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians who believe their child has used this service should contact us immediately.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete or export. For locally stored data:
Clear scan history in app — History > Clear All
Clear all app data — Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data (iOS)
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect upon posting. Continued use of Cheatah constitutes acceptance of any updated policy.

Terms of Service

IMPORTANT: By accessing or using Cheatah, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Cheatah.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and the operators of Cheatah, governing your access to and use of the web application at cheatah.app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you confirm that: (a) you are at least 13 years of age; (b) you have legal capacity to enter a binding agreement; and (c) you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We may modify these Terms at any time — continued use constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of the Service
Cheatah is an AI-powered image scanning tool that processes photographs of documents and uses artificial intelligence to generate suggested answers. The Service is provided as-is for general informational and educational demonstration purposes. AI responses are probabilistic outputs and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose.
3. Educational Use & Personal Responsibility

Cheatah is intended solely as an educational aid and study tool to assist users in understanding course material, checking their work, and studying for examinations.
3.2 User Sole Responsibility
YOU ARE SOLELY AND ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW YOU USE CHEATAH. Cheatah expressly disclaims any and all liability for any consequences — academic, professional, legal, or otherwise — arising from your use of this Service.
By using Cheatah, you acknowledge and agree that:
You understand and accept all honor codes and academic integrity policies applicable to you
Cheatah does not encourage, endorse, or condone any violation of any academic integrity policy or examination rule
Whether your use constitutes a policy violation is a determination entirely between you and your institution
You assume full and exclusive responsibility for any academic, disciplinary, legal, or professional consequences
3.3 No Encouragement of Misconduct
Nothing in the design, marketing, or operation of Cheatah constitutes an encouragement to violate any academic integrity policy. The name "Cheatah" is a stylized portmanteau of "cheetah" (an animal known for speed) and is not intended as an endorsement of academic dishonesty. Users are expected to exercise their own moral and ethical judgment.
4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
CHEATAH'S AI-GENERATED ANSWERS ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE CORRECT. DO NOT RELY ON THEM AS YOUR SOLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR ANY HIGH-STAKES PURPOSE.
Confidence percentages reflect the AI model's internal probabilistic estimate only — a high confidence score does not mean an answer is correct. Always independently verify answers using authoritative sources. AI answers may be especially unreliable for complex calculations, diagram-based questions, real-time information, or non-English content.
5. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use Cheatah to:
Process images containing personally identifiable information of others without their explicit consent
Scan or distribute copyrighted examination materials in violation of copyright law
Submit images containing illegal content of any kind
Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract the underlying AI models or system prompts
Use the Service in any automated or bulk processing manner without prior written consent
Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
6. Intellectual Property
The Cheatah application — including its design, code, and branding — is the intellectual property of Cheatah's operators. You retain all rights to images you submit. By submitting an image, you grant Cheatah a limited, transient license to process it solely to generate a response, terminating immediately upon completion. Examination materials you photograph may be subject to third-party copyright — you are solely responsible for compliance.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. CHEATAH EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHEATAH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES — INCLUDING ACADEMIC DISCIPLINARY ACTION, LOSS OF GRADES, OR RELIANCE ON INACCURATE AI ANSWERS. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED USD $50.00.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cheatah and its operators from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or any academic, disciplinary, or legal proceedings brought in connection with your use of the Service.
10. Third-Party Services
Cheatah relies on third-party services each governed by their own terms: Groq, Inc. (AI inference · groq.com), Vercel, Inc. (hosting · vercel.com), and Google Fonts (typography · fonts.google.com). We are not responsible for the practices or availability of any third-party services.
11. Minors
Cheatah is not directed to children under 13. By using the Service you represent that you are at least 13. Users between 13 and 18 represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on their behalf.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved informally within 30 days of written notice. If unresolved, disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration. You waive your right to a jury trial and to participate in any class action lawsuit.
13. DMCA
If you believe content accessible through the Service infringes your copyright, submit a notice at cheatah.app including: your signature, identification of the copyrighted work and infringing material, your contact information, a good faith belief statement, and a statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury.
14. Modifications & Severability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice or liability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed without affecting remaining provisions. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Cheatah.
